How to Wager in Greyhound Racing.

Not only can anyone play, but anyone can win at The Racetrack at Mardi Gras Casino.

Take your race day experience to another level, with this quick guide on how to wager in greyhound racing.

Win

If you bet to win, you’re wagering that your selections will finish first. This wager is available in all races.

Place

If you bet to place, you’re wagering that your selections will finish first or second. This wager is available in all races.

Show

If you bet to show, you’re wagering that your selections will finish in first, second, or third. This wager is available in all races.

Trifecta

If you bet the trifecta, you must select three greyhounds — one to finish first, another to finish second, and the last one to finish third. You win if your selections finish in the exact order you chose. This wager is available in all races except the third, seventh and tenth.

Quiniela

If you bet the quiniela, you must select two dogs to finish in the top two. You win if your selections finish first or second, in any order. This wager is available in all races.

Exacta

If you bet the exacta, you must select two dogs — one to finish first and another to finish second. You win if your selections finish in the exact order you chose. This wager is available in all races.

Pick4

To win a Pick 4, you must select the winning dogs in four consecutive races. If no one selects four winners, whoever selected two winners in four races will share in the entire net pool. If no one selects two winners, people holding tickets with one winner will share in the entire net pool. There is no jackpot carryover. Pick 4 wagering is now available on both cards, races 5-8.

Superfecta

If you bet the superfecta, you must select four dogs — one to finish first, another to finish second, another to finish third, and the last one to finish fourth. You win if your selections finish in the exact order you chose. This wager is available in races 5, 8, 11 and 13. Superfectas are held in all races on Sunday nights.

Boxing

When boxing, you select three or more dogs in a “box.” If you play a trifecta box, your selections need to finish first, second, and third in any order for you to win. If you play a quiniela box, you need any two selections to finish first and second in any order for you to win.

Wheeling

When wheeling, you pick a key dog to finish first, second, or third, with any possible combination of other dogs. A $1 trifecta “wheel” in an 8-dog race costs $42, with 42 different combinations to produce a winning payoff — all with just one ticket. For example if you wheel #8 to win, and it wins, you are winner regardless of which dogs finish 2nd or 3rd.

Mardi Gras Live Racing Wagering Format

There’s a $5 minimum for all win, place, and show wagers. We offer Twin-Tri wagering on races seven and nine of our first matinee card. Twin-Tri will be forced out every Monday night. Pick 4 wagering’s available on both cards, races five through eight.
